WORK IT!
Hey Tumblr!
Yesterday I had a job interview at a mental health hospital. Essentially the job is assessing clients that come in with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, or some other critical mental health issues. After the assessment we move them to the appropriate unit for continued treatment. Think of it as the emergency room for mental health.
At the end of the interview they offered me the position…I told them I’d think about it and get back to them on Friday.
Pros:
- It’s a job
- I’d get benefits
- Sounds exciting
- Free supervision toward licensure in Florida as a Mental Health Counselor
Cons:
- The pay is barely enough to live
- The shift is the overnight shift. 10pm-8am four days a week.
- The clients are very low functioning, extreme psychosis, etc
- Not exactly what I want to do
- I have to learn take down procedures
